Fawad Tamkanat, a renowned artist from Hyderabad, is celebrated for his distinctive work on canvas. The son of the esteemed Urdu poet Shaz Tamkanat, Fawad has carried forward his family’s artistic legacy, with his daughter Afza also nurturing a passion for art. A gold medalist in both BFA and MFA from the University of Hyderabad, Tamkanat has continuously refined his craft, exploring various themes and mediums throughout his career. His diverse body of work ranges from black-and-white paintings to vibrant depictions of women, busy Hyderabad market scenes, and interactions between humans and animals, skillfully balancing traditional and contemporary elements. Tamkanat’s preferred medium is acrylic, though his versatility extends to many other materials. His collaborations with prominent Danish paint makers and his time working at the Kristen Kajer Museum studio in Denmark have further expanded his global influence. Known among Europe’s leading painters and printmakers, his works have found homes with art collectors in both Europe and the US. A lover of birds and animals, Tamkanat has also donated his animal drawings to the NGO Blue Cross, supporting animal welfare.
