Born in 1983, Vinita Dasgupta is a contemporary Indian artist whose work blends new media with a deep exploration of layers, colors, shapes, and textures to evoke balance and harmony. A graduate of the College of Art, New Delhi, where she earned both her BFA and MFA, Vinita draws inspiration from the natural world, traditional culture, and pop art. Her art reflects the complex layers of life, each layer serving as a metaphor for the interconnectedness and diversity of human experience.
Vinita has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in India and internationally. In 2008, she received the “Art for Social Change” Award by the UN Population Fund, New Delhi, and was awarded the National Scholarship in Painting by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, for the years 2009-2011. Some of her notable solo exhibitions include ‘Story Teller: Stories Told and Retold – V’ at the New York Art Expo in 2016 and ‘Story Teller – Stories Told and Retold – II’ at the Art Lounge Gallery in Lisbon in 2015.
