Bio

Kanchan, born in 1957 in New Delhi, is an accomplished artist known for her powerful exploration of feminine energy and mythology. She studied art at Weisensee Kunst Hochschule in Berlin during her Foundation Year and later earned her BFA in painting and printmaking from Delhi College of Art. Her work delves into the essence of the divine feminine, with recurring themes of the Devi and the female torso, symbolizing strength, fertility, and sensuality. Her striking artworks are monumental, richly adorned with sequins, silver leaf, and beads, brought to life with vibrant hues of cerulean blue, yellow, and red. Through these bold expressions, Kanchan weaves her personal experiences—conflicts, joys, and emotions—into her art, making it deeply resonant. Her works are part of prestigious collections, including the National Gallery of Modern Art, Delhi, Mumbai International Airport, and the Kiran Nadar Collection. She continues to live and create in New Delhi, capturing the evolving narrative of femininity through her art.
