Paresh Maity is one of India’s most prolific contemporary artists, renowned for his dynamic and ever-evolving artistic practice. Beginning his career with evocative watercolor landscapes reminiscent of Impressionist masters like J.M.W. Turner and Winslow Homer, he later transitioned to bold figurative works influenced by Rembrandt, Picasso, and Rabindranath Tagore. His art captures the vibrancy of life, culture, and tradition, making him a celebrated name in the global art scene. Maity is best known for The Indian Odyssey (2010), an 800-foot mural at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi—one of the longest murals in the world—depicting India’s rich cultural heritage through its art, architecture, and people. His works are housed in prestigious collections, including the British Museum, the Rubin Museum of Art, and the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi. In recognition of his contributions to Indian art, he was honored with the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2014.
